Playing without an account

Your settings and board live in your browser's local storage. You can play without signing in, and your daily results are then recorded against a guest id held in a cookie in that browser. Nothing about your network decides who that guest is, so other people sharing your wi-fi never see your board. Sign in and those results move onto your account.

If you sign in with X

We receive and store your X account id, display name and avatar URL. We do not request your email address, we cannot post on your behalf, and we do not read your posts. Signed-in daily results are stored so your streak works across devices.

One round a day

So a signed-out player cannot restart the day's cat by opening a second browser, we keep a one-way hash of your network address and a rough description of your device, alongside the date, for the day it was played. The address itself is never stored and the hash cannot be turned back into one. If it mistakes your device for someone else's, one tap says so and we stop checking for that browser.

Photos you submit

Submitted photos and the breed, colour and sex you type are stored in a private object store and shown in the game once approved. Rejected photos are deleted.

Analytics

We count page views and a few gameplay events (a win, a loss, a share). The counter runs on our own servers, sets no cookies, stores no identifiers and builds no profile of you. Nothing goes to a third party and nothing is shared with anyone.

Your choices

You can clear local data by resetting settings and clearing site data. Ask us and we will delete a signed-in account and its submissions.

Cookies

One cookie holds your sign-in session and one holds your guest id. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
